Gratitude and luck.

At the beginning of 2011 I felt like I didn’t express love for friends and family enough. So I made it one of my goals (click the Conquered tab at the top-right) to let people know when I am thinking of them. I hope they are appreciating the text messages and emails. I realize that I could say it a lot more – tons more – and I need to stop assuming people know how I feel about them.

Simply put, I’m surrounded by special people!

booooo...ks

Aren't we cute?

This wasn't even Halloween.

Hmm..I'll need to think about that one.

Supposedly November 1-7 was World Communication Week. Who knew?

Well my friends over at larabar, that’s who. They have been tweeting and facebooking about it, but they’ve made it into World Communication MONTH. And that month, my friends, ends today!

To celebrate, I’ve decided to put together a little gift for one of my readers. Yup, a giveaway!

Here is what you have to do:

  • Pick up your phone or open your email and let someone know you are thinking of them/love them. It could be someone you tell often, or better yet, someone you think may need the extra little boost in their day.
  • Let me know in the comments section who you picked, and why you picked them. Only one comment per person will count in the draw.

Giveaway will end at 11:59:59 p.m. MT on Wednesday, November 30 (that’s tonight!). Winner will be picked at random.

I’d love if you’d share the message of communication and love with others, too. Sadly, it won’t count as an entry in the contest, but it’s a shiny gold star on your life check-list.

I have no idea what the gift will be yet, but it will be something good – think lululemon gift card, or starbucks, or treats.

My warm fuzzy went to Sister. I shared this with her yesterday, it was my comment on Joy’s giveaway that I won. I wanted to make sure she knew:

I’ve also made it a goal to let 19 others that I’m thinking of them today!

Your turn!

Fantastic idea! However, I am going to write someone a note today. I love technology and the instant way it allows us to connect with others, but after reading this article in the Saturday Toronto Star (http://www.thestar.com/living/article/1092701–in-praise-of-handwritten-notes) I want to get back to hand writing cards 🙂

You are so gorgeous!!!! I love those pictures of you- and I especially love your tagline (I think I’ve told you a zillion times, but you rock my socks). I called my Grandma this morning 🙂 she’s in the hospital, so we brought her cupcakes and decorations this past weekend for her birthday! Her actual birthday was today, so it was great to hear her voice and tell her how much I love her! Awesome idea for a giveaway! ❤

I just messaged Dean and professed my love for him and his abs 😉 I think that a lot of the time our love for each other is assumed. I lIke to remind him often that I am thinking about him and love him so much! He is usually really busy at work so I can picture the big smile on his face when he gets those 5 seconds to check his phone and sees a sweet message from me! I think we are hanging out tonigh so I am going to make sure I tell him in person too 🙂

I texted my pregnant friend to let her know that I hope she’s feeling well and she’s going to be a great momma!

My beautiful friend, you know how on board I am with this whole line of thinking and practice. In the time I’ve known you, you’ve served as such a great role model when it comes to randomly showing the love. your out of the blue wishes for a great day are always a delightful surprise. Thanks for setting up this initiative. The more you can spread your sunshine the better the world will be!

I chose to message a friend with whom I’ve been estranged for the last few months. She and I kind of fell out earlier this year and just casually reconnected for the first time via Gmail chat on Monday. I sent her text telling her how happy I was that she’d reached out to me, that I was thrilled to get a chance to catch up and that I’d missed her. Now, I feel all gushy inside. 🙂

I don’t think I’ll stop there, but that’s my entry.

I sent a message to my friend who’s in school out of province. Now we’re making plans to get together over the holidays 😀 I haven’t seen her since the summer and with the time change we’ve had a hard time consistently connecting via skype, so a visit is definitely needed!

I love this idea. Job well done by you!

I shot a message to my friend Christa in Ottawa as she is crazy stressed and prepping for a move that will take her and her 2 little boys to Edmonton as she and her bf start a life there. I wanted to remind her that no matter how far away she is I will always have her back and be here for her.

Laura I like your blog a lot. Hope things are going well with you and your move to a new city.

    Good luck with everything!

I called my mom. I know she likes hearing from me and sometimes I get so busy that I let a lot of time go between phone calls. Thanks for the reminder 🙂

I email my mother most days, but today I’ll add in something special so she knows how much I love her (I think she does) and how much I appreciate her love and support. My father passed away about five weeks ago and she stayed with me during the six weeks he was hospitalised before passing away. We then returned to my hometown for the funeral… so I’ve recently spent much longer with her than I usually get to (we live in different parts of Qld, Australia). During dad’s final weeks and days I tried to support mum as much as possible and since his passing I’ve tried to ensure she’s okay and taking care of herself (they were married for 48yrs). But… through all of that she’s all been checking on me to make sure I’m okay and we talk about our feelings and thoughts. A LOT. So… I’ll make sure she knows that, in today’s email, I acknowledge how much she’s helped and made (a terrible time) easier.

    Deb
